Time for the Taser gun

THE EDITOR: Here we go again, another bout of senseless fatal police shootings, lament, pain and needless loss of life. When will the state equip these officers with non lethal weapons as the Taser gun which temporarily paralyses violent and out of control persons with a charge of pulsed electricity.

In recent years following police shootings of a deranged woman on Wrightson Road and a deranged man at Point Fortin, the police service had a demonstration from a company which sold non lethal weapons to police services around the world. They also demonstrated the Taser gun. Nothing came out of this demonstration and now we have people being shot in fetes and a standpipe by apparently trigger happy policemen. Bring on the non lethal weapons now Mr Martin Joseph.
