‘Tiger’ Phillip to direct TT football
EX-NATIONAL goalkeeper Lincoln “Tiger” Phillips has been appointed technical director of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF). Phillips’ position was among several confirmed by the TTFF’s executive committee following a meeting at their headquarters on Friday. His appointment to this position follows the recall of Bertille St Clair as Head coach of the national senior team towards World Cup Germany 2006 qualifying campaign. Phillips’ appointment will be on an itinerant basis for the next six months pending the completion of arrangements for his full relocation to Trinidad and Tobago at the end of June, 2004.
The TTFF also decided to appoint Anton Corneal as director of development and national teams administrative manager George Joseph. Both appointments took effect from yesterday. And a committee comprising TTFF senior vice-president Raymond Timkee, special adviser Jack Austin Warner, and secretary Richard Groden will meet with under-23 coach Stuart Charles-Fevrier on his return from the Olympic qualifying series in Mexico, to discuss his future with the TTFF. Meanwhile, TTFF president Oliver Camps, Groden and vice-president Rudolph Thomas will attend the FIFA congress and centennial celebrations in Paris, France, May 20-23.
And the TTFF announced they will be hosting the Caribbean qualifying Futsal series here in April and the Caribbean Qualifying Women U17 Competition in August. Caribbean qualifying Under-17 Boys series is in September and the Under-20 Boys tournament is in October. And the executive mandated that national teams selected to travel abroad must be submitted to the general secretariat no later than 21 days before departure, and for local games, not less than 14 days. It was also announced Publicist Caribbean Limited has been appointed advertising agency for the TTFF.
