Couple robbed, woman raped

A lovestruck couple  on their way home yesterday morning was robbed at cutlass-point by two men, then the woman was taken away blindfolded to another point and raped. According to information around 3.30 am the couple was walking along the Guanapo Road, Arima, on their way home because there was no transport available when a car pulled up and two men armed with cutlasses came out and announced a robbery. Following the robbery the two men ordered the pleading woman inside the car where they proceeded to blindfold her, then took her to an undisclosed location where she was raped several times.

She was later dropped of at Cleaver Woods, Arima, where the blindfold was removed, as the car sped off. The battered and crying woman was observed by a driver who took her to the Arima Police Station where her companion was waiting and where she made a report. She was later taken to the Arima District Hospital where tests confirmed she was raped. Constable Titus-Martin is spearheading inquiries.
