It’s about time Mr Manning
THE EDITOR: Please allow me the space to express my public support of Prime Minister Manning — he is perfectly right to defend himself in the face of dishonest, unbalanced and unfair media reporting. Fair is fair! The media are always holding the Prime Minister accountable — demanding the truth from him. Yet, they repeatedly print lies and are blatantly dishonest in their reporting. What is even more disturbing is that they allow the UNC and their blabbering fools like Wade Mark and Roodal Moonilal to use the radio stations, newspapers and television stations just to create confusion and distraction from the real issues.
Well, I would like to tell Trinidad and Tobago the true story in 5 parts:
1. Mr Manning never used the word bogus in answering a question on kidnapping on the night of December 15, 2003 — I was there at Howard University. The newspaper which reported that story and created that unnecessary confusion was dishonest. The newspaper must be held to account.
2. The story by Donna Jacobs in the Ottawa Citizen is a set up by the UNC. The same newspaper that wrote the “bogus” story also left out critical parts of that article — which are the interviews with UNC Members Manohar Ramsaran and Robin Montano. Those interviews directed the editorial content of that article — not real news but UNC propaganda.
3. The UNC has lost all credibility — the people of Trinidad and Tobago know that they are corrupt. The UNC is therefore trying to gain support outside of Trinidad and Tobago. The problem is that people in the US, Canada, Europe and the entire world know the truth about the UNC’s agenda — to get back into power so that they can hide their corruption and pilfer more funds from taxpayers. Their reputation has preceded them and they will never convince anyone that they are capable of governing this country.
4. There are reporters in this country who are working for peanuts, compromising innocent people and selling their souls to score points with politicians. Check them out in Parliament on a Friday afternoon — prior to the beginning of Parliament, prior to the tea break and prior to the end of Parliament, they can be seen running behind UNC politicians to get the latest lies. But — they should think prior to writing those stories that very soon they may have to open a bank account to save for legal fees — prior to going to court.
5. The only real newspaper in this country with any kind of integrity is the Newsday newspaper. I encourage anyone who is interested in the truth to read it.
Mr Manning — thank you for standing up for truth and justice. When I read the newspaper from now on, I hope that I can believe what I read.
