Trade desk launched between JA and TT

The above business organisations are cognisant of the ongoing trade issues between Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica, affecting the regional manufacturing industry in particular and has consistently advocated for stronger ties between the nations. We all view this initiative as a matter of national and regional importance and Trinidad and Tobago is pleased to host the Office of the Trade Facilitation Desk at the TTMA’s office in Barataria.

The TTMA and TTCIC will continue to work alongside the JCC to facilitate and assist trade between our two countries and address any issues that may arise due to regulations, standards, excess bureaucracy, customs, unfair treatment of goods, and other areas impacting the access of products to the intended markets.

The Trade Facilitation Desk will assist the members of the signatories to establish trading partners by providing relevant market information, facilitating market access, networking and meetings.

Speaking at the launch of the event, Chief Executive Officer of the TTMA, Natasha Mustapha-Scott, referred to the need for the private sector to play its role in fostering regional development.

“It is time for the private sector to take its place as the champions of trade and lobby governments to not only talk and put pen to paper, but to begin the implementation of these plans and policies,” she said. We wish to acknowledge the joint efforts of all partners in making this a reality and look forward to continued collaborative efforts towards bolstering a viable trade and economic environment throughout Caricom.
