W-Connection Wanderers win Sunday League thriller

W-Connection Wanderers successfully chased 11 runs in the final over yesterday against Clico Preysal to register their fifth win in the 2004 Carib Sunday League cricket series yesterday at Gilbert Park, California. Chasing Clico Preysal’s score of 222 for six wickets, Wanderers needing 11 runs in the last six balls with Kishore Lalchan and Sanjeev Gooljar at the wicket facing Kwesi Roy. They got the winning runs in the final ball to take their team to victory at 223 for nine in 50 overs. On the back of  Mark Ramprakash’s 81, Preysal were able to tally a fighting 222 for six in their 50 overs. They then had Wanderers in all sorts of trouble at 146 for seven before Gooljar (39 not out) and Afzal Dean (28) took their score to 208. Guyanese batsman Lennox Cush put his troubles with the Guyana Cricket Board behind him to score an aggressive 112 to lead Tile It Central Sports to a massive 107-run victory over British American Aranguez who were routed for 40. Chasing a victory target of 248 in 50 overs, the Aranguez Boys were humbled for just 40 by Narendra Bridgelal four for seven and Keiron Lynch, five for 33.
