Chang ahead in New India Assurance chess qualifiers

WITH VICTORIES over FIDE Master Mario Merritt and National Master Cecil Lee, Dr Eddison Chang remained unbeaten in the seven-round North Zone New India Assurance National Chess Championship qualifiers. And qualifiers for the National event will also be staged in the East and South/Central Zones as well as sister isle Tobago. After four rounds of matches, the 26-year-old Chang is a hot favourite to become one of three players from the zone to advance to the national phase where they will seek to dethrone 11-time champ Christo Cave.
