Gasparillo needs public transportation
THE EDITOR: We the people of Gasparillo are disgustingly fed up of the way in which the taxi fare goes up in this area. Is it legal for taxis to raise their fare when they want? In the last three years Gasparillo to Marabella was $3; just before that it was $2.50, now it is $4. Gasparillo to San Fernando which is approximately a ten- minute drive was $3.50, then $4, now it is $5.
It is outrageous to know that there are only three “H” taxis that work in Marabella. All the others are private cars. In San Fernando after 6 o’clock you cannot get a taxi to get into Gasparillo — only private cars. Why should anyone pay this fare? We all have children to send to school. Government has risen gas by some cents; taxi drivers raise fares by dollars. We were promised in the first rise in fare that they would decrease the fare when the roads were fixed. Now all the roads are fixed and instead of decreasing fares they raise it again. They are taking advantage because there is no other means of transportation out of here. We are not taking this!
