Bravo 55 not out, TT face defeat

NEW AMSTERDAM, GU-YANA: Another atrocious batting display by Trinidad and Tobago left Guyana on the verge of their first outright victory of this year’s Carib Beer Cricket Series at the Albion Sports Complex here. At close of play yesterday, Trinidad and Tobago who trailed the Guyanese by 127 runs on first innings were 169 for eight wickets, a lead of just 42-runs with two wickets standing. Only West Indies opening batsman Daren Ganga 42, and a brave unbeaten knock by Dwayne Bravo saved the Trinidadians from  a humiliating innings defeat.

The young allrounder Bravo, despite wickets tumbling all around him, batted attractively for his 55 not out. Guyana resumed yesterday on 237 for six and Reyad Emrit quickly wrapped up the tail for the addition of only 33 runs, to finish with five wickets for 48. But soon Trinidad and Tobago were in trouble, losing wickets regularly and at one stage being 69 for six.

Summarised scores: TRINIDAD & TOBAGO 143 - Imran Jan 73, Damodar Daesrath 4/17, Zaheer Mohammed 3/38 and 169/8 - Dwayne Bravo 55 not out, Daren Ganga 42, Travis Dowlin 3/29, Neil McGarrell 2/32 vs GUYANA 270  - Narsingh Deonarine 71, Travis Dowlin 67, Damodar Daesrath 37, Neil McGarrell 34,  Reyad Emrit 5/48, Dwayne Bravo 2/8, Amit Jaggernauth 2/51.
