Granny’s throat slit

A shocked PH driver returned to the home of his wheelchair-confined  boss at Bourg Mulatresse, and found her lying in a pool of blood with several stab wounds to her abdomen and her throat slit. At around 3 pm yesterday, driver/handyman, Francis James, 59, of Bourg Mulatresse returned to hand back the vehicle to its owner, Theodora Stewart, at Rose Avenue. He entered the house as usual and on entry to the bedroom became petrified when he saw his boss, Stewart,  lying face down in a pool of blood. James contacted Patricia Lewis a neighbour, who contacted the police.  The police visited the scene and contacted DMO Alkea Holder who ordered the body removed to the Forensic Sciences Centre.

The  burglar-proofed two bedroom house was totally ransacked. The front door was locked, and the back door open. So messed up was the place that Cpl Springer, the police phographer had to take several pictures to get one composite. Police sources told Newsday while the place was always locked, she is a very friendly woman who always had visitors. The cops believed it was one of these visitors who tried to rob her, or forced her to say where she kept her money and when she did not, the killer stabbed her. There was no sign of forced entry so it is believed she allowed the person to enter. The old woman lives alone. Visiting the scene were Snr Supt Bishop, Insp. Coa and Miller, Sgts  Hazare and Thomas, Cpls Kitson and Ramjit and others. Police sources however confirmed they have information in hand and expect to make an arrest within 24 hours.
