$40,000 burglary at Courts
MARABELLA police are investigating a break-in at the Marabella branch of Courts in which over $40,000 worth of items were stolen.
Police believe the break-in occurred sometime between 5 pm on Thursday and 2 am yesterday. Supervisor Robert Girdharie secured the premises around 5 pm on Thursday and left for the evening. When he returned around 2 am yesterday for a routine check of the premises, he discovered a window on the eastern side of the store smashed.
On entering the store and taking a quick inventory, Girdharie realised 11 brush-cutters and a DVD player were missing. The items are worth over $40,000. A report was made to Marabella police and officers led by Cpl Edward Levia and including PCs Ramjitsingh, Sulliman and Gopaul visited the scene. Fingerprint experts visited the store yesterday to search for clues. Up to late yesterday, no arrests had been made nor had any of the stolen items been recovered. PC Sulliman is conducting investigations.
