Trainer Maharaj’s team on song

TEA TIME DOC seems to be settling down nicely to racing now that he has some races under his belt. The Maniram “Boboy” Maharaj-trained four-year-old has proven, at times,  to be a handful on the exercise course, giving his groom and rider hiccups by ducking back before he makes up his mind. But he seems to be getting the hang of things, and without his stalling actions yesterday, looked a different individual, stretching out nicely over the last 1000 metres of the main course in a pleasing 1:03.14 seconds.

Maharaj’s team were out in their numbers on the course, which could be easily interpreted that he is eyeing several events on the Arima Race Club Carnival Friday “Evening Lime” programme at Santa Rosa Park, Arima. Bon Voyage, Majestic, Music Man, Lovetillidie and Java Takeover breezed over the 800 metres course, while Ring Dang Do, Melanie My Love, Copy Cat and Native Love sped over 600 metres. Bon Voyage who surprised turfites by winning over a distance of ground last time out, looked in the same mood completing his solo spin in 51.56 seconds. His younger stablemates came out later in pairs to also show their well-being, with Majestic and Music Man covering their trip in 51.97, and Lovetillidie and Java Takeover getting back in 52.09 seconds. Melanie My Love and Ring Dang Do opened their throttles over 600 metres in 35.70 seconds, and Copy Cat and Native Love clocked 37.45, but the quartet was overshadowed by the unraced pair of American importations Rebel Music and This Cat Is Back, who topped the times for the distance with a 35.59 seconds timing.
