TUCO needs efficiency in public dealings

THE EDITOR: Please spare me a few lines in your newspaper to send an open letter to TUCO to query the mysterious omission of a contestant’s name on the judges’ list, prepared for the preliminary round of the Sunshine National Calypso competition held a few weeks ago in San Fernando.

The child’s name (Victoria Persad) was registered before the deadline, (which was later extended), and placed to perform at No 24. On the day of the competition, her number was moved down to No 28 and then her name discovered only to be on the officials’ list. Apparently her name had been left out from the judges’ list, and it is only after a short altercation between the MC and one honest official that she was permitted to sing. As the organising committee of calypso in Trinidad and Tobago, whether it is in North, Tobago or South Central, TUCO needs to be more efficient or transparent in its dealings with the public. Innocent children should not be subjected to such unjust and embarrassing situations caused by adults. Needless to say, I think that this case deserves a full explanation to the offended party.
