Prez is Trini to de bone
THE EDITOR: What is all the fuss about President Richards leaving the comfort of the Grand Stand to be part and parcel of the North Stand?
On an early morning radio programme, the topic was addressed by the morning host, then followed by a caller who was appalled by the move, by the fact, that he did what he did. President Richards move to the North Stand was met with thunderous applause from the crowd who had assembled in the North Stand. He did not seem to mind, and I am sure he was well protected, his wife accompanied him, also his security was with him. President Richards has always been an avid mas player, masquerader, even before his elevation to the highest office in the land. He still has not lost the Carnival touch, the Carnival “blood” is still in him.
So far all who are against what he did, stop, think, reconsider, he is a man, a human being, and Carnival is part of the national culture, it’s a part of the national “psyche.” The North Stand is to Carnival, just as roti, pelau, curry duck, doubles, phoulorie is to the “Trini” palette. Hats off to you Sir, you have shown you are a true Trinbagonian, a Trini to bone.
