The Condom Killer

The Condom Killer comes out to make mas in Carnival. He comes fully decked off in the costume of lies, treachery and deception. He is the robber without a whistle. He may come free, but his victims pay the ultimate price.

The Ministry of National Security has advised that there would be increased efforts to reduce the incidents of crime during the Carnival season. However, in spite of all their strategic plans and tactical operations, the greatest killer for the Carnival season would remain at large. The Condom Killer comes out to make mas in Carnival. He comes fully decked off in the costume of lies, treachery and deception. He is the robber without a whistle. He may come free, but his victims pay the ultimate price. Condom use is being advocated as safe sex. It is suggested by the safe sex activists, that any thought of people abstaining from sex or maintaining only one sexual partner in marriage, is unrealistic. Therefore, everyone can continue having sex with anyone, anywhere, anytime — just use a condom.

The very manufacturers of the condoms also make it absolutely clear on the package that the condom, if used correctly, MAY help reduce the risk of sexually transmitted diseases. Note the word “may.” Imagine the actual manufacturers of the product give no guarantee whatsoever that the condom will prevent HIV infection, or any other sexually transmitted disease, but the “condom pushers” give the fullest, most absolute guarantee of complete, fool-proof protection from HIV/AIDS. They preach a 100 percent safe doctrine. They call condom use “safe” sex. They don’t ever call it “almost safe” sex or “risky” sex. It’s always “safe” sex. Clearly, it’s nothing but a big, fat, fatal lie! Condoms have forever been proven to be unreliable in the prevention of pregnancy. Some condoms are treated with the spermicidal lubricant known as nonoxynol-9, which should kill the sperms that have been released. Yet, with such odds against getting pregnant, the condoms have, on numerous occasions, proven unsuccessful in preventing pregnancy.

And unwanted pregnancy is another major problem that erupts after Carnival — condom use or not. This spirals down to other ills such as abortions, which, incidentally, are championed by the same pro-condom groups. If the life of the baby is spared however, the resultant effects are single parenting and teenage delinquency, with subsequent social problems including crime. It is a scientific fact that there are only three to five days in every month when a woman can become pregnant. AIDS, on the other hand, can be contracted by anyone 365 days a year. As is well known, the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, which causes AIDS, is many times smaller than the sperm, and no chemical has been developed to kill this virus. It is therefore logical to conclude that if one can become pregnant with the use of condoms, then the chances of getting AIDS are far greater. It is therefore criminal for any educated mind to advocate condom use as “safe” sex.

As has been frequently observed, condoms carried by the average person, are not usually kept at the temperature conditions stipulated by the manufacturers. Most men who have them, keep them on their person (in pockets etc). Obviously, this adversely affects the condom quality, causing deterioration which results in breakage and seepage during use. A loud statement is being made about Trinidad Carnival by the distribution of thousands of free condoms to revellers: “Carnival is chiefly about sex, so be prepared!” It is no longer, about art, talent or creativity. The condom pushers have transformed it into a full-scale sex expedition. There are many persons, who, because of the fear of AIDS, would choose not to engage in illicit sex. However, as a result of the assurance given the condom use guarantees protection, they “give in” to the emotional pressures and sexual cravings, only to find out down the road, they have only been another brutally deluded victim of the Condom Killer.

No wonder the statistics continue to show that with the higher safe sex awareness campaigns has come a dramatic increase in AIDS cases.
In Haiti, for example (according to CAREC figures) between 1994 and 2001 male condom sales had a massive increase from four million to 11 million. But (according to UNAIDS/WHO/CAREC figures) in a mere two years — 1999 to 2001 — the number of HIV infected cases skyrocketed by a colossal forty thousand (from 210,000 — 250,000). This reflects the grand success of the highly celebrated condom “safe sex” campaign! In a Newsday report (12/02/04) under the caption “HIV Testing Rush After Carnival” Professor Courtenay Bartholomew said that there was a post-Carnival rush for HIV testing at the Medical Research Foundation. He said that there is always a moment of “regret.”

The report also quoted the Professor as saying, “They come for a test and they are scared, hoping it is not positive.” If the protected sex was so safe, why then the fear? US President George W Bush has also declared confidence in the effectiveness of abstinence in the fight against AIDS. In a recent release, CBN News (USA) quoted the President as saying that young people need to learn that abstaining from sex is the only sure way to avoid sexually transmitted diseases. Bush, according to the report, wants to double his spending on abstinence programmes. Sadly, this weekend is not really a time when king Carnival rules, but a time when Condom Killer rules. Woe be to those who allow themselves to be deceived thereby.
