‘Man of integrity’ laid to rest

IN A eulogy delivered by his son Ronald and daughter Deborah Warner, the late retired Court of Appeal Judge Alcalde Theophilus Warner was described a man “of extreme integrity who guarded that character jealously.” The service was held yesterday at St Finbar’s Church and officiated by Fr Gregory Augustine.

His thirst for justice and fair play was unconditional according to his children. Fr Augustine further added that should society want to change and get back to good values, it must go back to the home and inculcate the same attributes that Justice Warner was able to instill in his home. Former presidents Noor Hassa-nali and ANR Robinson supported the various descriptions attributed to the retired judge and further described him as a personable person dedicated to his work and above question or retribution.

Called to the Bar at Gray’s Inn, London in 1952 and receiving several accolades until he retired some time ago, the Tunapuna born judge succumbed to a massive heart attack on Wednesday (February 18) at his Diego Martin Park home. Following a two and half hour service at the St Finbar’s RC Church, his body was interred at the Lapeyrouse cemetery. He leaves to mourn his wife Margot, his children Ronald, Deborah, Gail, Lance, Patricia, Catherine, seven grandchildren and one sister.
