Sure Ting makes mas on Jouvert

TRAINERS had their string out aplenty on Sunday, a sign that most were not prepared to be on the job yesterday and today.

With that in mind they had their charges speeding on both courses, giving them let down gallops before they assume duties after the festive Carnival season. Cash Wager was among the runners to flash good speed. The John O’Brien-trained breezed the last 600 metres of the course in 35.20 seconds to be best on time for the distance on Sunday. Sure Wager schooling from the boxes went slightly slower to register 35.81 seconds between the 1200 and 600 metre markers. Full Of Promises and Royal Mist chose to show their well being on the turf course.

The pair from the Stephen Jardim barn, after having a slow round increased their speed over the last 600 metres on the grass to post 35.99 seconds. Saratone and Affirm Decision, and Premier Attraction were others to show off their lightning speed over similar distances on the main course. Saratone and Affirm Decision covered their trip in 36.53 seconds, while Premier Attraction went slightly better posting 36.20 seconds for his solo run. Mucho Tempo and Phenomenon won laurels over the 1000 metres course. The pair from trainer Harriram Gobin barn spared nothing in their effort completed in an impressive 1:01.12 seconds. Invincibility, Nowornever and This Cat Is Back also shaped well over the same distance. The older Invincibility posted 1:01.64 seconds, while his year younger stablemates posted 1:02.20.

Gallops yesterday morning were few and far between, but those who chose to speed were brilliant. Sure Ting, as though wanting to break the clock gave reminders of her speed with a fiery 33.55 seconds posting for 600 metres. His stablemates Daredevil Hero and This Cat Is Back went eye to eye for the major part of their 600 metres workout, before Daredevil Hero assumed authority close home in 35.82 seconds.
