Body found at King’s Wharf identified

THE body of a man discovered at King’s Wharf in San Fernando shortly after Jouvert on Monday has been identified at Darren Dexter Dalsingh, of San Fernando.  Dalsingh, 37, of Zurcher Street, Vistabella, was identified late Monday afternoon by his father Paul, who lives at Calcutta Settlement, Freeport.

Investigators were uncertain about how Dalsingh died, given the lack of marks of violence about his body. However, they said foul play was not yet ruled out and they are awaiting the results of an autopsy scheduled for today at the Forensic Science Centre in Federation Park, St James, to ascertain cause of death.  Police reports indicate that a Nissan B14 Sentra which Dalsingh had rented was found a short distance away from where his body was discovered at King’s Wharf.

Making the discovery was bottle collector Sylvester Greene. Greene, 45, said he was returning home around midday when he saw Dalsingh’s body and initially thought the dead man was in a drunken stupor. However, when Greene tried to wake Dalsingh and realised he was dead, a report was made to police. Greene also told police he recalled seeing Dalsingh at the wharf several months ago. Investigations are continuing.
