Sparrow treats Carapichaima
THE “Vanishing Tribes” led by Herman Clarke, of Gilda Street, Pt Lisas Housing Settlement Couva, won the “Band of the Year” title at the 57th annual Monday Carnival competition at Carapichaima.
Among the crowd of the thousands who witnessed the celebrations this year were Foreign Affairs Minister, Knowlson Gift, and members of the Regional Carnival Committee, as well as the Calypso King of the World, the Mighty Sparrow, who rendered a few of his song and who received a plaque from the organising committee. The presentation was made by chairman of the Carapichaima Carnival Committee, Amanola Khan.
Placing second in the Band-of-the-Year race was Leftwings “Fields of Dreams,” while Leroy Steele’s ‘Carnival Is,” was third.
