Abducted sisters jump out of moving car
TEENAGED sisters, who were abducted by a taxi driver, escaped by jumping out of the moving car and running through a canefield on Carnival Tuesday night. Vidya Mahadeo, 19, and Usha Manohar, 17, of Penal, boarded the car after attending Carnival celebrations in San Fernando. The teens told police that around 10.15 pm, they boarded the car and asked to be taken to San Francique. The teenagers said the driver did not pick up any other passengers on the way.
However, they became concerned when they realized the driver had diverted from the normal route and was heading toward a lonely area near a canefield in Debe. The teenagers jumped out of the moving vehicle and hid in the canefields. When they believed the man had driven off without bothering to search for them, the girls contacted the police via a cell phone and officers met them at the canefield and took them to the station, where their parents were contacted. Investigations are continuing.
