American stars here for Tobago Charity Golf

Actors Dorien Wilson and Gabrielle Union and MTV veejay Ananda Lewis have arrived in Trinidad. The American celebrities had lunch on at TGI Friday’s yesterday ahead of leaving for the Carnival Charity Golf Classic which begins today at the Tobago Plantations Beach and Golf Resort at Lowlands. The event is organised by islandevents.com headed by Douglas Gordon. Union, who recently featured in Bad Boys 2 and Deliver us from Eva, said she enjoyed Carnival tremendously and plans to return next year with a larger entourage of musicians and actors to introduce them to the positive side of the twin isles.

The stunning actress revealed that there may have been misconceptions in the United States which likened Carnival to Mardi Gras, but revealed that she discovered it is more about a nation’s culture and that it was a beautiful thing to be a part of. In an increasingly upbeat mood, Dorien Wilson of The Parkers assured that he was having a good time and did not mind dancing for hours on end in tropical weather, which he noted as a plus before stating that on his return next year he would be staying. Lewis who only arrived last night was disappointed that she missed the two day spectacle that her peers participated in but said that she relished the opportunity to go play golf and raise funds for charity.

Though she is not an avid golfer, having only accompanied a friend to the course on occasion, Lewis described herself as athletic and this coupled with some practice before she arrived in Trinidad should make her a force to reckon with when the classic tees today. A candid Lewis stated that she was jealous of Trinbagonians, who she said gave her a warm reception, but who lived in a beautiful island with a great climate which she prefers to the cold of North America. Though all three celebrities had been to the Caribbean on previous occasions this was their first time in Trinidad and Tobago. They all described the island as beautiful and revealed a desire to return to these shores. The other celebrities carded to attend were expected last night with recently retired heavyweight boxing champion Lennox Lewis among them.
