‘Bomber’ Theodore funeral tomorrow at Carenage

EX-NATIONAL footballer Richard “Bomber” Theodore will be buried tomorrow. The Carenage resident will follow be given a funeral service at the Carenage Recreation ground, timed to begin at 3 pm.  Theodore died at a hospital after a short illness. He was 32.

Theodore was apparently in good health until he admitted himself to a hospital on March 1 complaining of fever and weakness, his sister Gail Theodore said. Relatives found him dead at the hospital early on Saturday when his family arrived for a visit. Theodore, a versatile defender, was a member of the national team which created history in 1991 when it qualified for the FIFA Youth World Cup in Portugal. Trinidad became the first English-speaking Caribbean country to do so. He went on to star for the Trinidad military’s football team before a head injury ended his career prematurely in 1998.
