Keep an eye on Dealer’s Choice

DEALER’S CHOICE is not expected to be among the market leaders in tomorrow’s Royal Colours Classic at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, but the daughter of Kdanzc/Real Windy showed yesterday, that she is in tip-top shape and will not go down without a fight in the Grade Two event for West Indian bred three-year-olds. The chestnut filly attached to the small string of Ganesh Lal brightened up a rather dull morning with her speed, breezing the last 800 metres of  the main course in an attractive 49.36 seconds.

Rocket Booster who will be among the starting line-up in the first of two West Indian-bred maiden events on tomorrow’s nine-race card was another to show spark in her final blowout. The Edmund De Freitas-trained filly quickened from the top of the straight to the winning line (400 metres) in 24.42 seconds, to better the 24.74 seconds posted for the same distance by importation Premier Attraction. A lot of untapped talent was also seen out over the last few days. Raise A Creek, an unraced filly from trainer Rohit Dube’s barn and Lit D’Armour, a member of champion trainer Glenn Mendez’ string sent signals that they are better than average. Raise A Creek, after having a slow round, opened her throttle from the 600 metre marker to the winning line in 35.80 seconds yesterday. Lit D’Armour who went wrong when set to make his juvenile debut last term, created a good impression alongside stablemate Daredevil Hero on Wednesday. The pair ate up the 1000 metres acreage from the backstretch to the winning post in a healthy 1:02.14 seconds.
