India beat Windies women again

MUMBAI: India whipped the West Indies by 109 runs in the fourth Women’s One-Day International (ODI) on Wednesday to streak into a 4-0 lead in their five-match series. Batting first, the Indians scored 236 for three off 50 overs, and the West Indies women replied with 127 all out in 48 overs. Mitali Raj (88) and Karuna Jain (68 not out) led the Indian scoring and the Caribbean side struggled in reply, with Verena Felicien (24) and Debbie Ann Lewis (24) the top scorers, against spinner Neetu David, with three for 32. The Windies women played their last ODI in India yesterday before moving on to Pakistan.  Earlier, India won the first match in Dhanbad by 105 runs, the second by seven wickets in Jamshedpur, and the third by 72 runs in Kolkata. The West Indies are using the tour as preparation for the 2005 World Cup in South Africa. (CMC)
