Bring back the birch!

THE EDITOR: I would be much obliged if our Attorney General the Hon Mr John Jeremie could give the following answers. Is the cat-o-nine tail abolished? Is the birch not in use again? A few weeks ago a PH driver was sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment for raping a student nurse. The sentences will run concurrently, and he will only do ten years in prison. With good behaviour this man could get off two years. Why was not a flogging imposed for this crime? These PH drivers must have respect for our female citizens.
