Robbery victims identify Trincity Mall bandits
SEVERAL robbery victims between Diego Martin and Sangre Grande have identified the three bandits killed in a police shoot out last Friday at Trincity Mall as the men who robbed them between September last year and last week. A couple from Bamboo Village Curepe who were travelling to the USA and who were robbed of US$20,000 were the most recent victims. The three were also identified as the men behind the robbery and shooting of a Pentagon Security Services officer last year December and at least 30 other robberies along the East-West corridor.
Sherwin Samuel, Ishmael Clarke and Shawn Sargeant were shot by police and later died at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital following a short police chase that started at the Trincity Mall and ended ten minutes later on the Churchill Roosevelt High-way. The men were earlier engaged by police while following a Securicor Security Ltd armoured van. They countered by shooting at the cops. Following a shootout, they were confronted by another team and were fatally shot.
The three dead men had more than 40 matters for robbery, robbery with violence, possession of arms, ammunition, drugs and other matters between Port-of-Spain and Sangre Grande courts.
