Return To Sender pleases again

Horses were more plentiful than the previous day on the gallops course at Santa Rosa Park, Arima yesterday as trainers continue to keep their charges ticking over with light work. But while the great majority were on the slow side, a few that may be eyeing engagments when racing resumes next Saturday were noted stepping up preparations. Return To Sender has been doing everything right in her preparatory work but doesn’t seem to transform her exercise form to her races and the daughter of A Firm Deacon/Nobodywantsme may soon fall into the category ‘morning glory’ if she continues in the same vein.

The filly, now being conditioned by champion trainer Glenn Mendez after her juvenile campaign at Jack Debideen, chose to again impress in a solo spin. Working the 800 metres trip, the bay filly laid out nicely but had to be given some reminders up the stretch by apprentice Gary Laban to post 49.08 seconds, which topped the times for the distance on the morning. Blue Reign and Premier Account seem to be getting ready for their bows. The Shaffique Khan pair of American-bred runners, schooling from the boxes, were not fully extended between the 1200 amd 800 metre markers for which they were timed in 25.04 seconds. Music Man seems to be on the upgrade. The Maniram Maharaj trainee settled sweetly in his 600 metres spin recorded in 38.05 seconds.

Erin Dancer has not been seen out for some time. The eight-year-old mare showed she has recovered fully in posting a handy 54.42 seconds over 800 metres. Following are the gallops recorded yesterday:
