Fire take ASNL knockout crown

GOAL-ATTACK Simone Morgan was in good form scoring 21 of 25 attempts and goal-shoot Merlicia Lovell added ten of 17 to lead Fire to a thrill-packed 31-30 victory over Defence Force to clinch  the All Sectors Netball League Champion-ship Division knockout title. Netball fans at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Tacarigua were kept at the edge of their seats as the drama unfolded on Tuesday. Fire who trailed 16-15 at half-time battled on tenaciously to overturn the deficit on their way to victory.

Anastascia Wilson was almost a one-woman Army scoring 29 of 32 attempts.  Goal-attack Diana Pierre got the other goal from her two attempts. In semi-final action earlier, Fire blazed past Caribbean Facilities Corporation (CFC) 40-19, while Defence Force pipped Police 27-26. Lovell and Morgan had 20 goals apiece for Fire, while Duane David got 15 and Nisha Joseph and Denecia Harris scored two each for CFC. And Wilson led Defence Force with 13 goals, Pierre had 12 and Carlette Nurse two, while for Police who held a 14-11 half-time, Donna Eilse Charles scored 15 and Euphemia Huggins 11.
