TT horses suffer further delay
THE four Trinidad and Tobago horses which raced on Sandy Lane Gold Cup Day in Barbados on March 6, have suffered another setback to their return home. First they were expected on Friday of last week, then yesterday, but new Champion Sugar Mike, the 2003 Horse of the Year, 2001 triple crown winner Carnival Messiah, Tricky Guy and Golden Honour were being kept in Barbados because of customs document problems previously. But no reason was given for their failure to return yesterday as scheduled.
Wilma Primus, owner of Carnival Messiah, confirmed the non-arrival of the foursome yesterday and said, she was told to expect the horses on Monday instead. She said when the horses did not land yesterday, she called Barbados to find out what was the hold-up. Primus said: “I spoke to trainer William Clark, who supervised our stable runners prior to the running of the Sandy Lane Gold Cup, and was told the horses will be leaving on Monday. “Clark said he spoke with Amerijet International who confirmed their flight will be on Monday.”
