McLean injured in Natal defeat

DURBAN: West Indies pacer Nixon McLean suffered an injury and was unable to contribute much for KwaZulu Natal as they crashed to defeat against Border in the South African SuperSport Series yesterday. Set 128 runs to win, Border cruised to victory at 128 for two in 33.2 overs with Natal’s bowling attack missing the Vincentian McLean.

On the opening day on Friday, McLean left the field with a leg injury after delivering only four overs at a cost of 14 runs, with one maiden.  He had scored 12 in KwaZulu Natal’s 178 all out, but in his absence from the bowling attack, Border claimed a 58-run first innings advantage when they gathered 236 all out, paced by a solid 76 from opener Mark Bruyns. Medium pacer Andrew Tweedie did well to capture five for 61 for Natal, who tumbled to 185 all out in their second innings and left Border with an easy winning target.
