Daredevil Hero sparkles at gallops

TRAINERS had their horses firing on all cylinders on the gallop course at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, as they prepared for engagements on Saturday and beyond. Champion trainer Glenn Mendez had most of  his string out on Sunday doing handy gallops and pace work but chose yesterday, to breeze his runners. Daredevil Hero continues to show his class and flash his speed with another impressive showing over 1000 metres. The lightly raced American-bred three-year-old, after a light round began increasing in speed with apprentice Gary Laban astride, and flashed past the  winning post 1:00.79 seconds.

Nowornever and You’ve Got Mail showed the stable to be in good niche earlier, matching strides over 800 metres in 48.87 seconds.
J D Express and 2-Sharp have been regular partners on the exercise track, and the pair of maidens stepped up preparations yesterday over 800 metres in 50.86 seconds.   On Sunday runners were out in abundance, with the major stables doing fast work. Sharing the spotlight were Royal Miss, Bold Brush, Phenomenon, Sou Sou Moni, Lit D’Amour, This Cat Is Back, Florida Flame and Not This Time, who schooled from the boxes.
