Sky Storm Rising sends warning signals

SKY STORM RISING sent out a warning yesterday that she will be no ordinary customer in tomorrow’s imported maiden event on the Arima Race Club Day Nine card, with a dashing display of speed on the exercise course yesterday. The unraced American bred three-year-old, whose previous gallops were recorded under the name of Raise A Creek before a name change, lit up the course breezing the last 1000 metres in an impressive 1:00.73 seconds. The Rohit Dube-trained filly showed good early speed and though she appeared to drift slightly after rounding the top turn, picked back up a true line to maintain her steady fractions. Miss Lover Lover continued to impress in her gallops.

The Edmund De Freitas stable star preparing to do battle in tomorrow’s Allowance spotlight, breezed the last 600 metres of the course in 36.03 seconds with raceday rider Gary Laban aboard. Lady Banker who will line up in the first of two maiden events for West Indian-bred three-year-olds showed her well being from the top of the straight to the winning line  (400 metres) in a swift 23.52 seconds. Cornerstone, listed to start in the $10,000 Optional claimer also got a “good” marking with a 24.48 seconds over the same strip. Samana Song and Yashoda, Creme Caramel, Sunday Jewel, Born To Charm, Rebel Music, Melanie My Love and Florida Flame were among those to also please the Arima Race Club clockers on Wednesday morning.
