Police continue netball domination
POLICE continued their domination of the All Sectors Netball League when they whipped arch-rivals Defence Force 19-12 to take the Courts Trophy knockout series. The Policewomen held a commanding 10-5 half-time lead in the 30-minute match at the Eastern Regional Indoor Arena, Tacarigua on Thursday. But the Army-Coast Guard women rallied strongly in the final stanza, but Police were equal to the challenge and held on to take their fourth title in the league.
Goal-attack Donna Charles scored 16 of 18 attempts and Euphemia Huggins three from eight for Police. Lystra “Twinkletoes” Zamore got seven goals from eight attempts, Kerlene Sylvester had three of six and Diana Pierre sank two of six for Defence Force. Earlier, Police dumped TSTT 30-17 in the first semi-final, while Defence Force scored a similar 30-17 victory over CCC.
