Girl, 18, gang-raped
CENTRAL police are investigating a report that two armed men attacked a man and his niece who were walking along a road during the early morning hours yesterday, with the teenaged victim being gang-raped while her uncle looked on helplessly. According to police sources, the 18-year-old girl was accompanied by her uncle at around 2.30 am on a stroll along Bhagna Trace, Chase Village in Cha-guanas when they were approached by three unidentified men.
The man and his niece were taken to an abandoned house where two of the three men raped the teen repeatedly, while the third assailant kept guard on the rape victim’s uncle, who could do nothing but watch helplessly as the men assaulted his niece. After the assault, the three men fled the house leaving the crying teen with her uncle.
A report was made to the police who subsequently carried out a futile mobile search for the rapists. The teen was taken to a health centre where the District Medical Officer (DMO) medically examined her and confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted. Up to late yesterday no arrests had been made and Freeport police were continuing investigations.
