Cash Wager tops ARC Cup weights

CASH WAGER will tote topweight of 56.5 kilos in the Arima Race Club Cup, feature race on the ARC Day 11 programme at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, on Monday. The John O’Brien-trainee heads the handicap in the 1800 metres event following the withdrawal of  “Horse of the Year” Sugar Mike, who declined at yesterday’s declaration stage, along with Gautama, after subscription was paid at all three stages of the Grade One race.

Sugar Mike is currently at the quarantine facility adjacent to the race track at Arima and has been doing light work.
The Mike Samlalsingh-owned colt encountered flight problems after  competing in the Barbados Sandy Lane Gold Cup at the Garrison Savannah, Barbados, on March 6, and only returned home on March 25, approximately one week later than expected. The late withdrawal of Sugar Mike gave handicappers Robin Jaisingh and Wayne Shockness no option but to elevated Cash Wager to the top of the weight table.

This six-year-old son of Valid Wager/Cashierette is noted for sprinting and  will be handing out as from 1.5 kilo to stablemate Phantom Menace to 13 kilos to bottomweight Daredevil Hero. Invincibility who finished a close-up third to Outswinger and Phantom Bidder in the Champagne Stakes Handicap gets 2.5 kilos from the top weight and with 54.5 kilos. Miss Lover Lover for whom a late penalty of $4,400 was paid to be among the starters follows closely in the weights with 52 kilos. The Edmund De Freitas trained filly, who has been on the go for the last six months is followed in the weights by ottie’s Way (51), Phantom Menace (49.5) and Fabulous Risk 48.5.

Following are the entries and their allotted weights: CASH WAGER - 56.5, PHANTOM BIDDER - 55, INVINCIBILITY - 54, MISS LOVE LOVER - 52.0, DOTTIE’S WAY - 51.0, PHANTOM MENACE - 49.5, FABULOUS RISK - 48.5, DAREDEVIL - 45.5
