Selfish Maracas beach visitors
THE EDITOR: I beg your indulgence to publish in your paper, my recent experience which I would like to share with all your citizens. On the Baptist holiday of Tuesday March 30, I had a horrifying experience of being stuck in Maracas Bay traffic. I consider it to be the height of frustration that hundreds of cars could be detained by the selfish parking habits of just six or seven cars that were double parked outside the bar at the far end of the beach and also along the strip of roadway that narrows near the shark and bake dealers in the parking lot.
The traffic was backed up in both directions and at times did not move for ten minutes at a time. All of this is going on because of a few uncaring persons having fun, drinking and eating shark and bake at the expense of hundreds of persons stranded in their cars. Surely you will agree that sitting in miles of traffic that does not move is a form of torture, especially when you get past the blockage of selfish individuals and realise that it is pure foolishness that is causing this suffering of so many people. I would like to urge all those planning to visit the beach over the Easter holiday to avoid the torture of Maracas Bay traffic and enjoy their holiday somewhere else where they will not have to sit for hours to arrive or leave the beach that they visit.
