Photofinish in Tobago cycling

A PHOTOFINISH was required to determine the winner of the 40-kilometre Tobago Criterium as the Beacon Insurance West Indies versus The World Cycling Series continued yesterday. In the end, Australian Jeff Hopkins was adjudged the winner in a course record time of 55 minutes at Market Square, Scarborough. The estimated 1,000-strong crowd was not left disappointed after the race, as hometown favourite Emile Abraham placed second and Guyanese-born TT rider Stephen Mangroo third. Action resumes from 5 pm tomorrow at Skinner Park, San Fernando.
