Scotia celebrate WI Test cricket jubilee

Scotia Bank Trinidad and Tobago Limited and the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board of Control (TTCBC) have launched the five-month celebration of Scotia Bank West Indian Jubilee. And this 75th anniversary of  Test cricket in the Caribbean which involved events throughout the region, will culminate with the announcement of a West Indies Five Jubilee Cricketers at a live television gala on July 27 at the spectacular Birmingham Symphony Hall, during the forthcomning West Indies tour of England. Scotiabank West Indian Jubilee are seeking public votes for the top five Trinidad and Tobago cricketers of all time. Voting commenced on Monday last at Scotia branches throughout Trinidad and Tobago.


The public are asked to name the five cricketers whose excellence at cricket during the past 75 years made the greatest contribution to the game. Five points will be allocated to a voter’s first choice, four points for second, and three third. Points will be aggregated and the five players with the most points will be announced as the Five Trinidad and Tobago Jubilee Players. And the People’s Choice of the top five Trinidad and Tobago cricketers will be announced at a Scotiabank gala at the Country Club, Port-of-Spain on April 23.


Also to be announced is the greatest batting, bowling and one day international performances by a Trinidad and Tobago cricketer. The five Trinidad and Tobago Jubilee players will then be added to a short list of 30 for a final judgement by a Wisden jury for the title of Five Greatest West Indian Cricketers. In addition to Scotiabank’s sponsorship the celebrations are being supported by Cable & Wireless, Prestige Holdings, Shell, Busta, Liat, Air Jamaica, Sports & Games and Carib.
