Money shared as Sunday League final rained out again
The 2004 Carib Sunday League will be shared by PowerGen and Alescon Comet cricket teams. This decision was made after rain for the second successive day washed out the final at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre yesterday. Heavy overnight and late afternoon showers prevented any play on the first scheduled day on Saturday and the match was put off to yesterday with a 2.30 pm start.
However the rain returned to the southern venue yesterday and put paid to any hopes of a match. Administrative manager of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board of Control (TTCBC), Rambhai Patel told Newsday that according to Section 15E of the regulations regarding the Carib Sunday League, when two scheduled days are rained off the title will be shared. As a consequence the prize money will be divided equally with each side receiving $22,000 each. Originally the winners were to get $30,000 and the runners-up $14,000.
