Beware of offensive statements
THE EDITOR: This morning at approximately 6.20, the Sai movement was concluding its regular Sunday morning programme over Radio Shakti, with two Sai Bhajans sung in the Hindi language. In each of the Bhajans the singers were saying that Sai is the manifestation of the gods in the different religions. One such purported manifestations is that he is Allah.
Muslims take serious objection to this offensive and insulting attack on the concept they hold to be most dear to them, ie no creature can ever be compared with the Creator who is Allah. In the Holy Qur’an it is repeated in many places that nothing can be comparable with Him. While the Sai community may be free to propagate any form of blasphemy in their religious seminaries, behind closed doors, they should be a little more considerate with presentations at the national level especially through the electronic media.
Perhaps the presenter of the programme was unaware of the negative impact such a presentation can have on an important section of the national community. I urge the movement to scrutinise their presentations in future in order to avoid being offensive to others.
