Mazda for hole in one
A MAZDA M3 vehicle will go to the first golfer to record a hole-in-one, on the fifth hole, at the Cotton Tree Foundation Charity Golf Tournament from 9 am today. The charity event, which features a number of present and past West Indies and English cricketers, will be staged at the St Andrew’s Golf Course, Moka, Maraval. There is a level of uncertainty over the availability of Windies captain Brian Lara, who is scheduled to visit sister isle Tobago today.
But, even in Lara’s absence, there are a number of cricketers who will test their golfing skills on the Moka greens, including Windies selectors Sir Vivian Richards and Gordon Greenidge, Queen’s Park Cricket Club president Willie Rodriguez, Barbadian Senator Desmond Haynes and commentator Ian Bishop. England’s captain Michael Vaughan, Marcus Trescothick, Ian Blackwell, Steve Harmison, Darren Gough, Ashley Giles, James Anderson and coach Duncan Fletcher will also be trading the bats and balls for golf clubs, albeit for today.
