North defeat Central in Inter-Zone competition

THE NORTH Zone Under-13 cricketers defeated their Central counterparts by 36 runs on the opening day of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) Under-13 Inter-Zone Series on Monday. Batting first in the 45-overs-per-side encounter at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain, Couva, North amassed 189 runs for three wickets with Nicholas Alexis scoring 64 and Aaron Alfred 49.


In reply, the Central lads were restricted to 153 for six with a topscore of 21 by Roland Mahabirsingh, while Javed Boodram returned figures of three for 26 for the victors. And, in the day’s other fixture, South whipped South-East by six wickets at Barrackpore. Vicky Oudit claimed four wickets for 20 runs from a maximum nine overs to limit South-East to 105/6 in 45 overs, despite a score of 20 from Evin Lewis. But South got home off the final ball with Marlon Buceno undefeated on 23 while Kirk Ramharack topscored with 37.
