Movietowne Magic shows gallop tricks

MOVIETOWNE MAGIC has always been highly thought of but has not performed up to the top billing in a career plagued with injury. But the four-year-old American-bred colt,  made odds-on  favourite to win the final event on last week’s “Friday Lime” programme at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, failed to get in a blow after a tardy start. The colt once again reminded clockers of his ability, with a 33.30 seconds clocking over 600 metres from the boxes yesterday morning. This gallop with raceday rider apprentice Gary Laban aboard, raised eyebrows on a morning in which the majority of runners took things easy.

Movietowne Magic left clockers in disbelief, since his time between the 1200 and 600 metre markers was rated among the fastest ever recorded between both points. The Glenn Mendez-trained colt looked in great shape on his return to the paddock and a repeat of this gallop in tomorrow’s Starter Allowance will surely see him taking a lot of beating in the 1000 metres dash. You’ve Got Mail, another member of the same barn, also looked to be in good shape going through his paces. The Kama Maharaj-owned bay gelding which scored with authority last week, went at a comfortable clip over the last 600 metres of the main course in 39.70 second. Seaham Harbour and Deadsure, who will go after glory in the Gleneagle Stakes went slightly slower on the clock in separate spins. Trainer Neale Greaves’ hopeful, Deadsure, stopped the clock in 39.91 seconds, but Seaham Harbour was slightly faster in 39.81 seconds, .
