National League cricket resumes
After a lengthy break for the Carib Sunday league finals and international cricket, the domestic cricket league resumes this weekend with the fifth round of the Carib National league. Leaders, First Citizens Clarke Road United will play host to Queen’s Park Cricket Club and will be hoping that the weather changes to hot and sunny so that they can extend their lead at the top of the table against a team missing West Indies players Dwayne Bravo and Mervyn Dillon.
Tile It Central Sports, the front runners early in the season will be looking to recover their winning touch and keep Clarke Road interested when they oppose PowerGen Sports at Presentation College, Chaguanas. Two time defending champions Ceramic Trinidad Merryboys will be looking to repeat their performance of last season when they kicked into high gear at this stage. They are currently mid-table and will be hoping to get the better of Alescon Comets who are already into the finals of the two domestic limited overs competitions.
The last game will see Clico Preysal against cross town rivals Transbrokerage Couva at the Inshan Ali Park. Preysal are fancied to come out on top against Couva who are still finding their way in the big times. In Division II, leaders W-Connection Wanderers the runaway leaders will play Moosai Sports at Gilbert Park. It will take a great effort from Moosai to stop the rampaging Wanderers. Fixtures: Division 1 - Preysal vs Couva, at Inshan Ali Park; Central Sports vs PowerGen, at Presentation College; Clarke Road vs Queen’s Park, at the Wilson Road; Merryboys vs Comets, at Diego Martin. Division 2 - Wanderers vs Moosai, at Gilbert Park;Green Arrow vs Mayo, at Mt. Stewart; Las Lomas vs Aranguez, at Las Lomas; Police vs Munroe Road, at Barracks.
