National Unity Over-40s win UWI title

PARAMOUNT Transport National Unity are Over-40 Division champions of the UWI Employees’ Super Football League one more time. The defending champs edged nearest challengers TSTT 1-0 on Saturday last on a goal by Richie Cabralis, to finish the eight-team division unbeaten in their seven matches. The champions scored 21 goals with only one against them. Emile Morris had the honour of scoring the most goals — eight. And on Sunday, National Unity travelled to Point Fortin and lifted the over-35 title in the all-day Borough Day Football Tournament.

Junior Bailey scored the only goal in the final to edge Pompeii 1-0, while teammate Morris who scored four goals got the “Most Valuable Player” award. Tiacho Stingray took the Women Division ahead of  Memphis Girls in the end with a match in hand. In Premier League, Group “A” action, lowly Aston Villa stunned leaders Trincity Nationals 3-0 with Darren Modeste scoring all three goals. And Honved missed a chance to join inactive Happi Foods Flippers at the top of Group “B,” when they were held 2-2 by Calsbreg Stingers.
