Greenidge to coach local batsmen

Former West Indies opening batsman Gordon Greenidge has been recruited by the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board to conduct a batting clinic at the Frank Worrell Development Centre from May 8 to 13. The former Barbados captain will conduct sessions for 30 selected batsmen from TT’s Under-19 and senior teams. He will also have a session with selected coaches. The former batting great will be assisted by former TT nationals Roland Sampath and Kelvin Williams, and past West Indies wicketkeeper David Williams.

Sampath, temporary manager of the Development Centre and manager of the Young West Indies team that reached the ICC Youth World Cup Bangladesh 2004, said that ten players from the senior team, ten students currently attending the Centre, and ten youth cricketers will take part in the six-day programme. Greenidge is expected to arrive in Trinidad on May 6 and will be a special guest of the TTCB at the Carib Shield final on May 7 between Alescon Comet and W-Connection Wanderers under lights at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre. He will also deliver the feature address at a function hosted by FCB Clarke Road United on May 8 at the Green Iguana Restaurant in Penal.
