Would FTAA improve TT?

THE EDITOR: Concerning our efforts to have Trinidad and Tobago selected as the FTAA headquarters I would like to add my sentiments. Would the FTAA headquartered in TT reduce the price of gasoline and reverse the domino effect in the cost of living experienced by the last price hike? Would sick patients still be discharged from hospital in order to make room for patients worse off than they are?

Would the residents of La Horquetta, Maloney and Bon Air Gardens still have to “wet in the sun and rain” according to the calypso, in the dog-fight to get to work on mornings? Would making Spanish our second language make life easier for poor Tobagonians who have to depend on an unreliable ferry service to obtain certain amenities available only in Trinidad? If the answer to just one of these questions is in the negative, then FTAA might as well stand for Fantasy Time Again Amigos.
