Mohan to lead TT in U-19 Tournament

The Kelvin Williams 14-man squad was released by the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) yesterday, along with three reserve players. National youth selector Lalman Kowlessar said the team is as strong as the one which represented the country last year in Barbados.

“We have a very good squad; the only problem I think might be in the wicket keeping department. Nicholas Pooran was forced to drop out since he will be involved in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) which starts next month,” said Kowlessar. The TTCB’s second vice-president nevertheless feels the team is good enough to be able to bring home the title this time.

“We have some good spinners and pace bowlers and the same batting from last year. I think they should be able to bring home the beacon,” said the youth selector. The twin island batting line-up includes Jeremy Solozano who led the regional batting average last season. It also includes Brian Christmas, Andy Gobin, Camillo Carimbocas, Bryan Charles and Tion Webster.

Solozano who made his senior regional Four-day against Jamaica this year has his eyes set on continuing from where he left off last year. “I want to go out there and make a lot more runs like last year, and even better my performance. I also want to help my team try and win the tournament this year,” said the Hillview College Sixth form student.
