TT footballers 75th in world rankings
Antigua and Barbuda have regained a top-10 spot in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) rankings. In FIFA’s May ratings released yesterday, Bermuda, who had displaced Antigua and Barbuda last month in the CFU’s top-10, slipped five places down the world list. After recording spectacular gains in recent months, Bermuda — beaten by Nicaragua and Panama in the past two weeks —- slid to 164th on the world list while Antigua and Barbuda moved up one place to 159th. The shift means Antigua and Barbuda have gone back to number ten in the CFU, while Bermuda slip to 11th.
In an otherwise unchanged CFU top-10, Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz remain the region’s number one team, staying at 50th in the world, followed by eight-time Caribbean Cup champions Trinidad and Tobago (75th), Cuba (77th), Haiti (86th), and Barbados (111th). St Kitts/Nevis, 120th on FIFA’s list, remain sixth in the CFU, followed by St Lucia (127th), Grenada (145th), Suriname (152nd) and Antigua and Barbuda. Jamaica are still ranked fourth in CONCACAF behind Mexico, the United States, and Costa Rica. World Cup champions Brazil remain the world’s number one, over France, with Spain third.
