Chips Daughters edge Moms in netball
“RUDE” Daughters gave their Mothers a narrow one-goal ( 22-21) beating in the annual Chips Sports and Cultural Club Mother’s Day netball match at the Jean Pierre Complex, Mucurapo. The Mothers led 8-5 at the end of the opening stage of Sunday’s match, but the Daughters made it a one-goal by half-time and trailed 11-10. Daughters took over in the third quarter and led 17-13 at the whistle and appeared to be running away with the match, but the Mothers fought back tenaciously but only managed to reduce the four-goal deficit by three. Joelisa Cooper scored ten goals from 19 attempts and Leeann O’Brian got 12 of 20 for Daughters, while Denise Rose had 19 of 40 attempts and Sharon O’Brien sank two of eight for the Mothers. Following the encounter, the netballers engaged in an in-club folk singing competition which was won by Hits. Belles were the runners-up.
